you'd think seeing an impressive amount of misery, wounds, pain, death.. might be depressing. And at a daily level, yes, it is. But it comes with the activism and living in Romania one gets used to it, many animals in need, little resources (time, money, space!!!, energy....) and you do the best you can. The best you know. The best possible.
So if that doesn't hurt because you know each one of them matters, when does it hurt?
Is it the moment you realise you can't save them all?
Is it when activists FIGHT all the time? who's better? who knows better? Which treatment is better? Which vet is better? WHO is the best?
or is it the moment when you hear "How could you have said the truth?"
which truth? the one that disturbes you sleep well at night, for not knowing is comfort, will it make you sleep less if you are aware there is misery? or even worse, the truth, that wasn't supposed to be TRUE.
When fellow activists lie to harm a "known" enemy. When they say this enemy is the Devil, a monster because in the past it was so and so and so but today, an opening, a comunication, working for the dogs wellfare and dare to say the sworn enemy is not the Devil? oh how could you have done THAT?

I think we do great work and I think if you love animals you're happy for these dogs, as much as if they were yours.
If you're not, could you please don't disapoint me to let me know? Would you stop trying to stop me because "it isn't proper to help any dog and these dogs well they are not in the proper place to be saved by a decent person? Oh you will sit and judge me? Well you can help me or not, but try stop me?
And spread lies? And harsh words!
if you are an animal activist you should know better than put in danger an entire project just to spread dirt and doubt and guilt, to prejudice "the enemy". It's calomny. And speculation. And a bit of lie. And very disapointing even to the univolved objective party, as me.
So fuck it, yes, this is when in hurts. And it really does.
if you are an animal rescuer you got to accept others are too and stop offending them because all of us are at ot whitt's end and no one, and I mean no one, needs extra shit.
so bottom God damn line, activism hurts because of the people involved.
there's just a few people strong enough or even willing to take and take and take shit. For the love of GOD people, learn team work, not egos and nerves and fights and things you say and don't mean it even if you are tired, stressed, dead! be diplomatic. Be better. With your fellow activists. And use the energy for a better purpose.
